What is My Style?

Can you tell by a glance into your closet what fashion style you favor?  Maybe it’s obvious, and your closet is full of classic pieces.  Or maybe half of your clothes are romantic and half are bohemian.  Some of you might have thought a dozen times, “What is my style?”  because you gravitate toward several types of looks.

No matter how many fashion styles fill your closet, it’s important to know what those styles are.  If you know your style, you can easily decide which clothes to keep and which to give away.  When you go shopping, you’ll have a better idea of what clothes and accessories to add to your closet.  Most importantly, putting an outfit together won’t result in a pile of rejected clothes on the floor.

I propose a challenge: organizing the clothes in our closets by the styles they represent.

In future posts, we’ll look at different styles and their latest runway interpretations.  Then we’ll group each style’s clothes together in our closets.  You can post pictures of the styles that fill your closets on Fashion Your Closet’s Facebook page.  I can’t wait to see your results!

To get started, you can learn a lot about your style from your favorite pair of jeans.  Which style of jeans do you like to wear?

  1. It’s funny, because for the longest time I’ve always bought bootcut/flares. It’s only this year that I started purchasing skinnies. However, my bootcut/flare collection is still the largest (9 pairs)!

    • I did the same thing Courtney! I always wore bootcut & just recently tried a pair of skinny jeans & love the look that I can create with them. I think my comfort zone is still with bootcut jeans but skinny jeans are working their way into my wardrobe slowly but surely! 🙂

    • I wasn’t a fan of skinny jeans until my friend talked me into trying them on. Now they’re my favorite – I just need more shoes that go well with them! It’s interesting to watch jean styles morph over the years. I wonder what the next trendy version will be.
