Resort 2011 Nautical: My Closet

Does anyone else think that the nautical theme seems to stick around?  When I was in the 6th grade, one of my friends bought me beautiful white enamel anchor earrings with gold-colored trim.  Since then, I’ve often noticed anchors and boats and seagulls in color combos of blue and white.  This year’s resort look embraces the nautical trend, according to Elle.

Take a look through your closet, and pull out any and all nautical-related items.  Look for whites, blues, greens, brights, stripes, knots, and anything else that reminds you of the sea.  In a later post, we’ll take a look at the nautical styles on the runway and then put together our own outfits.  If you’re a fan of this trend, your clothes might be similar to the clothes in my closet.

I found this short-sleeve nautical-stripes sweater at a thrift store and liked it enough to buy it.  It’s a fairly short sweater and seems to go best with short shorts rather than capris.

I couldn’t resist purchasing this white nautical jacket.  Nautical + white = like!

I bought these white shorts when I bought the jacket.  The knotted drawstring gives them a nautical touch.

Aquas, greens, and diagonal stripes.  Mmmmm!

I saw this purse at Goodwill and thought it was cute, but I decided not to buy it.

What nautical clothes did you find in your closet?

  1. Jen I love your blog!! I think it’s great and it inspires me to seek in my closet to creatively put outfits together! I have a Jones of New York knit that is my favorite nautical piece. Maybe I shall sport that top to work tomorrow!

    • Thanks, Linda! You are one of the most creative people I know. I can’t wait to see your outfit the next time I see you!
